Diego Tardelli was the man of the match today, as he scored two goals to give Brazil the victory over rivals Argentina .

It turned out to be a great day for Brazil and their fans as they managed to beat their fierce rivals for the fourth time in a row in the Superclasico de las Americas, which was played in Bejing today.

Since the establishement of The Superclasico in 2011, Brazil have now won four of the five meetings, drawing the other. Argentina tried their best to get their long waited revenge, however they never managed to find the net in a very attacking game of football.

This was Brazil’s third succesive international win since the World Cup, as they look to rebuild their squad after their catastrophic display against Germany, loosing 7-1.

Now, former legend Dunga has replaced Luiz Felipe Scolari as coach, and did he bring a very mixed group of players with him to Beijing, both old and young talents. Robinho and Kaka, who both were let out of the 2014 World Cup squad, were among the players on the bench. Neymar was also back in the squad, as was his Barcelona team mate Messi for Argentina.

Argentina looked to continue their good form after finishing second in the World Cup, and did they bring their main players in Messi, Di Maria and Aguero with them. However, both Messi and Neymar did not perform to their best.

Argentina started off better in the game, having some early efforts on target but could not score; especially Kun Aguero had trouble finding the net having several chances in front of goal.

Instead, Atletico Mineiro striker Tardelli made a great impression, and in the 27th minute Tardelli received the ball from a bad Argentine clearance on the left side of the box, volleying the ball in the bottom right corner making it 0-1.

Lionel Messi had the chance to level for the Argentines in the 40th minute, when new Manchester United star Angel Di Maria was fouled by Danilo inside the box. The usually strong penalty taker Messi, saw his finish in the bottom left corner saved by Brazil’s goal keeper Jefferson.

In the second half, it was Brazil who had the most efforts on goal, despite Argentina having 61% possession throughout the game. Brazil were looking for their second goal, and in the 64th minute they finally got what they wanted. Tardelli was again the man on the spot when Brazil’s corner found David Luiz, who with a header passed the ball to Tardelli, who then on close range headed the ball in the bottom right corner.

Argentina tried to get back in the match and did they put on Higuain, Pastore and Perez in order to get more attacking options upfront. In the 79th minute, they had their chance, when Lionel Messi, who received a free kick right outside the box, narrowly missed past the right post in a left footed free kick effort.

Unfortunately for the travelling Argentinian fans, their team did not manage to put the ball in the net, even thought they had 16 shots on goal with only four on target. The game finished 2-0 to the Brazilians and will they remember this victory for a long time.

Brazil’s next international friendly will be on Wednesday the 13th November, as they travel to Istanbul to face Turkey. Argentina on the other hand will stay in China and face Hong Kong on the Tuesday the 14th November.
