Cristiano Ronaldo

The debate that has dominated football in recent seasons, who is better, Ronaldo or Messi?

With El Clasico returning this weekend it looks set to be one of the fiercest games between the two in recent times.

Both have spent vast amounts on players over the summer and even Luis Suarez looks set to get an appearance in the game.

But obviously the focus will be on the two big guns that are Ronaldo and Messi.

They are the face of both their respective clubs and both will be looking to put on a show during the game.

So who really is the better out of the two?

I don’t think you can really compare the two as they are very different in terms of style and play.

Ronaldo is very much an individual. He can produce something magical out of nothing and completely dominates that left-hand side week in week out.

Messi seems to be much more of a team player. He works well with all his team mates bouncing off Iniesta, Neymar and Xavi producing some of the most creative team play to ever be seen in the history of football.

A similarity between the two is that they are both goal machines.

I heard Paul Merson say earlier today that Ronaldo’s goals are all shots he’s hit as hard as he could and Messi’s are all beautiful goals.

Well Paul this isn’t really the case is it? As was clearly evident by the goal Ronaldo scored last night against Liverpool.

Both are extremely talented players who bring different things to their team.

If I had to pick a player I would say Ronaldo, purely for the fact he has performed in both La Liga and the Premier League and that individually I feel he can control a game a lot more.

His cocky attitude and ridiculous physique make him the best player in the world for me.

But a humble, quiet, yet extremely skilful Messi make him as good as Ronaldo any day.

Basically what I’m doing here is sitting on the fence and I don’t really have a defining reason for picking Ronaldo I just love watching the guy play football!

As for El Clasico this is a very, very tough one to call. Both teams are struggling defensively and both teams attack are insanely good so I’m going to predict a high scoring draw of 3-3!
