New Transfers To Keep An Eye On This Season
The transfer window has once again gone crazy and clubs are spending big bucks. The fight for a top four finish has potentially never been more competitive this forthcoming season and has lead to all teams across the league buying stars from around the globe. Of course this can only be exciting for the Premier League and these players could become the new heroes for their new clubs. We’re going to look at the new signings already recruited, see which ones are set to light up the Premier League and the players you need to watch out for this season.
- Alexis Sanchez
Cost: £35 million Barcelona to Arsenal
After an impressive World Cup with Chile, Sanchez attracted the attention of Europe’s top clubs after Barcelona said they were willing to offload him. The two main candidates were Liverpool and Arsenal. The Gunners came up trumps and have arguably made the best signing of this transfer window so far. The quality Sanchez will offer will be second to none. This player offers pace, passing and most importantly, goals. Expect Sanchez to guide Arsenal to a top three finish.
- Diego Costa
Cost: £32 million Atletico Madrid to Chelsea
After watching Costa in the World Cup for Spain I was dubious as the whether Chelsea were right to spend this kind of money on the striker. It would be wrong to judge him solely on his World Cup performances, but we should take into consideration his performances in last season’s Champions league and La Liga. Looking back at his season for Atletico Madrid you can’t knock his goal scoring credentials and the quality that he provides as a striker. If he can replicate that kind of form for Chelsea then we could be looking at the top scorer for the 2014/15 Premier League season. This is a big statement we know, but Mourinho knows what he is capable of and this will be exactly what he’s looking for from the Spaniard.
- Graziano Pelle
Cost: Undisclosed (est. £9 million) Feyenoord to Southampton
Southampton have faced somewhat of an exodus over the summer with top players such as Lallana and Shaw leaving and in addition to this Pochettino hopped ship to Spurs. So it has been left to new manager Ronald Koeman to rebuild the squad. His first signing could be a real gem. Graziano Pelle had a slow start to his career, but two seasons in the Eredivisie with Feyenoord has seen him score 50 goals in 56 games (Source: SkySports), which is an incredible goals to game ratio. He could be a bargain for budding Fantasy League players!
- Cesc Fabregas
Cost: £30 million Barcelona to Chelsea
Cesc needs no introductions. At Arsenal he was majestic and at Barcelona he was superb. Everyone will be familiar with what Fabregas has to offer and Chelsea are the fortunate club to have recruited his talent. With the quality Chelsea already have, Fabregas will undoubtedly slot right into this team and make his mark instantly. Mourinho will try to implement a lot of link up play between new signings Costa and Cesc, so expect a high amount of assists from the Spanish Starlet. The Express Newspaper recently stated how Fabregas dethroned Mesut Ozil as the ‘King of the Assists’ so that can only bring an interesting battle between Arsenal stars of past and present.
