Potential Comical Signings For Arsenal

So I opened the paper this morning to what I thought was the comic section as I genuinely couldn’t believe what I was reading and thought it was hysterical.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in free-agents Joesph Yobo and Diego Lugano which I hope for Arsenal fan’s sake isn’t true (Daily Mail.)

After Tuesday’s defeat to Borussia Dortmund there were calls to sure up Arsenal’s defence as they were lacking in depth and even had to resort to a youngster at right-back.

But if anything these two signings would be a hindrance rather than a gain for the team.

Lugano looked like such a liability last season for West Brom and even got dropped at one point. Yes I know he has a pretty solid career behind him but he is well passed his best.

During the World Cup for Uruguay he looked really lackluster at centre-back and made several mistakes.

Even Joseph Yobo was relegated with Norwich last season and I’m fairly certain that he wasn’t a regular in the first team.

These would 100% be panic buys if Wenger decides to get them in. I’d rather bring youngsters through the ranks if surely they have someone capable of filling a gap.

Besides Arsenal have three fit centre-backs in the form of Koscielny, Mertesacker and Chambers. Yes I know Chambers will be covering for the injured Debuchy at right-back but now the youngster Bellerin has come into the team, Chambers is ideal cover for centre-back.

Wenger has made a huge mistake with this. He knew he needed centre-backs during the transfer window yet did absolutely nothing about it. Now they are potentially going to have to resort to two below average defenders which will make no difference to the team whatsoever.

I don’t know what Mr. Wenger is planning but as I discussed the other day it just seems like it’s same old Arsenal.
