Reds have firm interest in Brazil star
Roberto Firmino could be set for a £18.6m move to Liverpool according to Italian website Calciomercato.com.
The star has attracted the interest of other clubs including Arsenal, but Liverpool are believed to be the front runners.
A rising star of the Bundesliga, the 23-year-old Hoffenheim star has an eye for goal and an impressive tally of assists, operating mainly from the attacking midfield position.
Firmino has already made four appearances for Brazil, too, scoring two goals.
The question is whether manager Brendan Rodgers can spend his money wisely at Anfield, something he has been doubted for, particularly with regards to the acquisition of Mario Balotelli.
The Reds have reportedly been scouting Firmino for the last 18 months, so fans can hope that Rodgers will get it if he is to sign him
A move for Firmino could be done with confidence by Rodgers, with the Bundesliga arguably one of the most similar European leagues to the Premier League, and with a rising stock of Brazilian stars applying their trade in England, Rodgers can be confident of Firmino being a success.
The former Figueirense star would have time on his side, too, at just 23, he would have time to blossom, particularly with the help of the other Brazilians at Anfield, Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva, though, his large price tag may add pressure, too.
Liverpool are also short in attack, but a move for Firmino would add further speculation concerning the future of two of their current strikers, Balotelli and Rickie Lambert, both players have endured an unsuccessful season so far, meaning that if Firmino does arrive and they leave, Rodgers may need to strengthen further.
