Song Seeking Premier League Move

Barcelona midfielder Alex Song has been linked with a move back to Premier League today (Telegraph)

The reported clubs interested are Everton, Manchester United and Tottenham. If any of these clubs do manage to sign Song then they will be gaining the services of one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

When Song played for Arsenal he provided great cover in a defensive role but could also attack when needed. He also provided assists for numerous goals at Arsenal.

He has never really broken into the first team at Barca and has somewhat been used as a spare part at time providing cover in defence for when Barca’s centre backs were injured. This isn’t ideal for Song and a move back to the Premier Leaguer seems most likely.

Song used to link up with Robin Van Persie excellently back in their Arsenal days so Song would be an ideal signing for United. A quality holding midfielder is also exactly what they need at the moment especially with the reported deal for Arturo Vidal is not really materialising to anything.

Everton have spent big this window in order to push for a fourth place spot and Song would do no harm in adding to this quality. I would be surprised if Song did choose Goodison Park but Martinez is a good manager who plays a great type of football which Song could be tempted to be a part of.

If Song decides to go to Tottenham then that will be the biggest surprise of all. A former Gooner going to Spurs is the rarest of occurrences and when it does happen they are hated forever e.g. Adebayor. Do not expect this move to happen.

Likeliest destination for Song is probably Old Trafford but you never know in this transfer window, every rumour so far has rarely surfaced into anything substantial.
