Neils Tips – Leagues tips from French, German Russian and more…

Evian TG vs. PSG (22/08/2014)
Kick Off: 19:30
Competition: Ligue 1
Venue: Parc des Sports

This fixture did not go well for PSG last season, they were in decent form coming into the fixture but went on to produce one of the most languid performances from a football team, in the history of languid performances from football teams. However this time they are playing against an Evian team who are in terrible form, they are bottom of the league and have conceded 7 goals in 2 games. PSG are coming off of a comfortable win against Bastia last time out, they should have enough to win this one.

Bayern Munich vs. Wolfsburg (22/08/2014)
Kick Off: 19:30
Competition: Bundesliga
Venue: Allianz Arena

The Bundesliga rolls back into motion this weekend and it kicks off with last seasons champions Bayern Munich who host Wolfsburg. Last season Bayern were in such formidable form throughout almost the entirety of the league season, which culminated in them winning the league in Germany in record time, and this season doesn’t appear to be any different. They may have lost Toni Kroos and Mario Manzukic, but they have added last seasons top Bundesliga scorer Robert Lewandowski to their squad. Wolfsburg are a decent side, but Bayern are a fantastic team. Bayern should have too much for them.

Zenit St. Petersburg vs. Akmar (23/08/2014)
Kick Off: 14:00
Competition: Russian Premier League
Venue: Petrovsky Stadium

Zenit’s early season form gives the impression that they will be a dream for anyone who puts accumulators on European football. Since the season started, they have rolled every domestic opponent over with relative ease. They have won their last 4 games at home on all competitions, scoring 13 and conceding just a solitary goal; this week they play host to Akmar, a team third bottom of the Russian top flight and who have only scored 1 goal in their opening 4 games of the season.

Chelsea vs. Leicester (23/08/2014)
Kick Off: 15:00
Competition: Barclays Premier League
Venue: Stamford Bridge

On their return to the Premier League last weekend, Leicester produced a spirited comeback to draw 2-2 with Everton, but this may be a bridge too far for them (pardon the pun). Chelsea opened with a fantastic performance away from home against Burnley winning 3-1, with Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa showing that they are ready and raring to firing their new team toward the title. All signed points to Chelsea winning this one.

Dynamo Moscow vs. Ural (24/08/2014)
Kick Off: 10:30
Competition: Russian Premier League
Venue: Arena Khimki

Before the season began Dynamo Moscow would have been tipped as one of the main contenders for the Russian Premier League, and their early season form has backed up that assumption. They have amassed 9 points from their first 4 games and have new signing Mathieu Valbuena in red hot form having registered 2 assists in his first 2 appearances for them. Their opponents Ural probably do not have the same level of confidence as their recent form has been wretched, they have one point from 4 games and have not won in their last 4 away games in all competition. Dynamo Moscow also beat Ural home and away comfortably last season.

Tottenham vs. QPR (24/08/2014)
Kick Off: 13:30
Competition: Barclays Premier League
Venue: White Hart Lane

Tottenham should be on a high this weekend coming off the back of a last minute victory at the expense of bitter London rivals West Ham United. The polar opposite could be said for QPR who on their return to the top flight succumbed to a 0-1 home defeat to probable relegation rivals Hull. Tottenham are on a 6 game winning streak if you include pre-season matches, where as QPR have lost their last 2 matches. This coupled with the fact that the match is a White Hart Lane means the likely result will be that of a Tottenham victory.

Barcelona vs. Elche (24/08/2014)
Kick Off: 20:00
Competition: La Liga
Venue: Camp Nou

The next La Liga season starts this weekend and Barcelona will be looking to put right the wrongs of last season where they disappointed in the league after a promising start, eventually surrendering their title to Athletico Madrid. This season should be different though for the Catalans who have utilised the delay on their transfer embargo to good effect. They have strengthened in key areas such as central defence and midfield to ease the departures of captain Carlos Puyol and Cesc Fabregas; this coupled with the fact that they have added some formidable firepower in the form of last seasons golden boot winner Luis Suarez and Barcelona look well equipped to mount a significant charge on the Spanish League title. They beat Elche 4-0 at the Camp Nou last season and the score line this time around could be very similar.

Real Madrid vs. Cordoba (25/08/2014)
Kick Off: 19:00
Competition: La Liga
Venue: Santiago Bernabéu Stadium

Due to Super Cup commitments Real Madrid don’t start their league campaign until Monday, but they’ll be worth the wait. Real Madrid are at home against newly promoted Cordoba, who came up via the play-offs from the Spanish second division. They only qualified for the play-offs by virtue of goal difference, meaning they are fortunate just to be in the division. Real Madrid should win this game resoundingly as they now have new Glactico’s in the form of James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos, along with the already outstanding duo of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo. A Madrid win all day long.
