Ferreyra to fire up The Toon

Facundo Ferreyra could light up the Premier League this season.

Newcastle United have snapped up the 23-year-old Argentine striker on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The forward is relatively unknown, having barely experienced the Ukrainian Premier League never mind the English Premier League.

Ferreyra previously played at Velez Sarsfield in his homeland, before moving to Donetsk where he scored an impressive six goals in just 13 appearances for Shakhtar.

Despite being unfamiliar, the striker was highly sought after before his move to Shakhtar and his six goals in a new league has clearly impressed United.

The powerful target man would not have been available on loan if it was not for the political unrest in Ukraine, after the forward refused to travel back to Ukraine from Argentina.

Ferreyra did not score in pre-season for The Magpies, however if he gets enough playing time, The Magpies may have found a real gem.
